Investing in wind generation in the Republic of Ireland
The transition to a net zero global economy presents us with sustainable investment opportunities.
Through Local Pensions Partnerships and their investment in GLIL infrastructure, we have a stake in Rathcool. This is a group of 11 operational onshore wind farms that supply around 11% of the Republic of Ireland's installed wind capacity. The project has generated enough electricity to power 350,000 homes and prevented 480,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, compared to non-renewable energy generation.
Onshore windfarms are part of the world's move to net zero and they also produce long-term returns to help pay members their pensions.
