Read about our hard copy letter campaign in OPSC's member engagement booklet
In our 2023 member survey, respondents told us that, after email communications, they most wanted to receive information from us via letter. We know that not everyone has smart phones, not everyone wants to do everything online, some people are worried about email scams and, for some, the cost-of-living crisis has impacted internet access. This mean that some people are losing touch with their pension providers.
We're trying to help tackle this digital exclusion by writing to some of our members to remind them that they can ask for hard copy pension communications from us. While we would prefer that our members use our online portal, we know that we need to offer people alternatives too. Our mailing campaign has delivered over 3,000 new registrations to our member portal and around 500 requests for hard copy communications. We'll be continuing our hard copy campaign in 2024 to encourage members to stay in touch.
We've written about our experience in the Occupational Pensions Stewardship Council's Member Engagement case study booklet. The OPSC is a group originally set up by the Department for Work and Pensions. It's a forum for Funds and Schemes to share experiences, best practice, research and the group offers practical support on a range of issues from member engagement, stewardship, corporate governance and climate change.
